Sandra Livingston

Copy Editor, Proofreader

Welcome

Sometimes it’s okay to keep your readers guessing. Will the hero defuse the bomb in time? What is the secret to success?

But when it comes to sharing your ideas, you don’t want to make readers guess what you’re trying to say. You want them to navigate easily through your words, not stumble over your meaning.

Whether you’re writing suspense or self-help, the goal’s the same: to get your meaning across to your readers. To do that well you need grammar, punctuation, and proofreading that add clarity, not confusion.

Are My Skills Right for Your Project?

I’ve been editing, proofreading, copywriting, and doing layout in one form or another for 15 years. Besides dozens of courses (including Ryerson University’s copy editing course), my experience includes editing fiction, articles, corporate communications, and documents for the health care sector. A few highlights follow:

  • Qualified vendor for Alberta Education
  • over three years as managing editor for an online university magazine
  • six years writing, editing, proofing, and doing layout for corporate communications, including a company-wide intranet and the president’s monthly communiqué to over one thousand employees
  • two years designing and proofreading environmental-assessment reports for major international clients
